INTRODUCTION

Be the very first as we hold the premier ghost watch event at Eastbury Manor House since its re-opening earlier this year. A popular theory states that refurbishment has always been a possible cause of supernatural phenomena. Will the supposed phantom children and dark menacing entities, which are said to roam the location, increase with the recent works? One thing’s for certain, the shadows of Eastbury Manor yield an un-nerving and magnetic pull. If you have never been to Eastbury, this is your chance to investigate before it becomes a haunt for countless other companies. THIS EVENT IS AN EXCLUSIVE FIRST FOR LPS.

HISTORY

Eastbury Manor house was believed to be built by wealthy merchant Clement Sysley in the late 16th century, on the site of an older house which was once part of Barking Abbey. Formally known as a ‘gentry’s house’, the building’s exterior remains Elizabethan in appearance and originally stood in farmland and countryside. A connection with the gunpowder plot has been linked to the house but not confirmed. The house passed through several hands before coming virtually derelict in 1700’s. In 1834, farm labours lodged in the neglected property before part of it was converted into stables and coach houses. In the early 20th century, it was decided to save the ancient house. The property is now used for community and business activities.

PARANORMAL ACTIVITY

This imposing listed building is probably one of the finest examples of its period in this area. Whilst echoing the past in every context, the ghost stories are abundant and help knit together feelings of fear and anxiety often felt in the location. Stories leaking from the house recall, tales of a ghostly Victorian girl, a phantom cat, a white lady in the garden, doors that open and close and a dark menacing entity with red eyes which can overpower those who enter one particular room. Whilst staying overnight, a couple had their door opened suddenly and the bed kicked violently. Trance-like states have affected several employees and scratches have appeared over their hands.

With a plethora of ghostly goings-on, possible connections to the gunpowder plot, an underground and banned religion, much infant mortality and complex ownership, the house’s emotional residue should be very powerful. Join us as we explore the hidden realms of Eastbury Manor.
