INTRODUCTION

Our "Spooky Suffolk Summer" comes to it's climax at the county's best known and largest museum. The Museum of East Anglian Life in Stowmarket extends over 75 acres, upon which sits 15 restored historic buildings. Our Location for the night, Abbots Hall (currently not open to the visitors) lies at the heart of the museum and is reputed to house a wandering apparition that scares people senseless, leaving them to run and never return.

Stowmarket itself has become a paranormal hotspot, famous for the Stowmarket Fairies and the terrifying Black Shuck demon of Clopton Hall. With Abbots Hall at the epi-centre, who knows what we will uncover. THIS EVENT IS AN LPS EXCLUSIVE.

PARANORMAL ACTIVITY

The sleepy town of Stowmarket hides an unusual number of supernatural reports. With countless stories of fairy sightings, sandy coloured elementals, demon dogs, cursed fields and ghostly vicars, folklore has remained at the forefront of most local story telling. Abbots Hall lies within the heart of the Museum of East Anglian Life and is the original estate owner’s house. The apparition of a man in shadow form was witnessed by an actor taking refuge in the house. He was so shocked at the disembodied shadow as it swept down the hallway, he ran out of the house, never to return. The hall has seen countless owners and witnessed immeasurable emotion over the centuries. Is this residual energy a possible explanation for the apparition? The Stowmarket fairies are renound in local folklore and to this day, unexplainable. Will we discover the identity of the ghost of Abbots Hall? Will me witness the 3 feet high fairies? Join us at its first ever public ghost watch.

HISTORY

The current Abbots Hall was built in 1709 upon the site of an older house, on land once owned by the Abbot of St Osyth. The Hall is situated in historic gardens, although the property is currently not open to the visitors of the museum. There is a lesser known fact that Mary Tudor has a connection to the estate. Like most historical properties, it has seen extensive rebuilding and extension over the centuries and has been the ancestral home to several families. The current house is built in classic Queen Anne style and its faded grandeur is seen in many of the rooms; however they still seem to exude the personality of the past inhabitants. The last owners, sisters Vera and Edna Longe set the land aside for the development of the Museum of East Anglain Life.
